As parents, we hope to instill in our children the importance of traditions. Many of our family traditions revolve around food. For example, our Sunday evening tradition has become a London broil dinner. All my kids love this meal — which is quite a miracle — and I hope it might become a tradition in your home, too.
Prepare to impress with this delicious, super quick and easy four-ingredient London broil recipe.
Couldn’t Be Easier: Delicious London broil

Author: Momma Chef
Recipe type: Dinner
Serves: 6
Ingredients
- 1½-2 lb. London Broil or flank steak
- 1 cup Italian dressing
- ¼ cup soy sauce (if making GF use Kikkoman GF Soy Sauce)
- ¼ cup honey
Instructions
- Mix Italian dressing, honey and soy sauce in a large Ziploc bag.
- Add London broil to bag and, if possible, let it marinate several hours in the refrigerator.
- Grill on low heat 12 minutes each side (4 minute longer per side if you like it well done . . . but who likes it well done?!).
Tips and Tricks:
- This is a great recipe to quickly throw together in the morning and let marinate in the refrigerator during the day. Just put the meat in the oven or grill it when you get home.
- If you are living a cold climate and aren’t brave enough to grill in the winter (we Chicagoans grill in the snow), then preheat the oven to 375 degrees and bake the London broil on the lowest rack uncovered in a disposable pan for 45 min (+/- 15 minutes depending on preferred level of doneness)
- As always with red meat, let it sit for 5-10 minutes after cooking before cutting to seal in the juice.
- This London broil is great served with grilled asparagus and brown rice (my favorite is Trader Joe’s frozen brown rice)

After taking out several of your recipes I am going to have to try this and the Honey Dijon chicken. I love that your recipes are simple but they look so amazing. I am definitely going to share your page on mine so that hopefully will get even more views.

Thanks, Tiffany!
I don’t have a grill. How else can I cook this? Thanks!
Hi Beth- If you look under the “tips” section in this recipe you will see instructions to make it in the oven.
Great thank you so much!!!!!
Broil it
I have never tried to make london broil. You make it sound so easy. Maybe I’ll pick some up next time I’m at the grocery store. Thanks!
That looks suppperrrr good. definitely trying this out this week !
We had this the other night and it was sooo good. It’ll be made again, and often. Thanks so much and I’m so enjoying your sight.
Hi Mitch, Thanks for letting me know, I am so glad you are enjoying the recipes!
Looks pretty simple and really delish! What temperature would you consider to be “low heat”?
If grilling I always keep my gages at “low”, the outside thermometer should read around 400.
Delicious flavor, but it ended up dry in the inside. Not sure what went wrong. It marinaded for more than a day.
Lisa,
Glad the taste was good, but sorry it way dry. How long did you cook it and at what temp? I would try it again, maybe try getting a london broil from a different butcher? Happy to answer any questions before you cook this next time.
Tried this with my family and everyone ate it, ALL of my kids! Mine was 2 pounds, so I cooked it for 45 minutes and it came out medium with ends medium-well. If you want it medium-rare, I would cook it for 35 minutes.
You’ll love how easy it is. It’s my favorite. I’ve not tried this one, but it sounds wonderful, too. I’ll try it, too. And, it isn’t far removed from what I do.
Made this tonight for dinner! First time I’ve ever tried London Broil. Turned out perfect. So easy to make. Thanks for such a great recipe!
Hi, this sounds delicious. Could this be cooked in the crockpot instead?
Hi Tonya,
This is one of my favorite recipes on the blog. I would not cook it in the crockpot as this is not a cut of meat that requires slow and long cooking time. It’s best in the oven or on the grill. Enjoy! Karen
This was delish!! Thanks for sharing, it will be a new summer “go to”.
Hi Cheryl,
Thanks for the message! This is also a go-to in our house, I think I make it once a week! Happy cooking! Karen
Direct or indirect heat on the grill?
I cook mine on direct heat above the grates.
We just had this tonight, and it was EXCELLENT! Everyone raved. The only modification I made, because it was raining outside I broiled (it is called London BROIL after-all) about 7 min each side. PERFECT and so flavorful. Looked beautiful too, a perfect medium rare. I marinated it overnight and I suspect that’s the minimum necessary to achieve the tenderness and rich flavor. In the future, when I grill it I will probably grill on med-high for 6-7 min/side, given today’s experience.
Hi Pete- thanks for the message. So glad you liked the London Broil, it’s a favorite over here as well!
Wow-wow-wow! This meat was a huge hit! Thank you-thank you!
Hi, Do you think I could sub coconut aminos for the soy sauce in the marinade? Thank you
Hi Elizabeth,
Yes, you can absolutely use coconut aminos in place of soy sauce in this recipe I have done that often for gluten-free friends. Enjoy! Karen
